Follow the money to Ireland

It’s interesting to see how Ireland has overtaken the UK in the wealth league. In terms of net wealth per head, Japan is the richest country, now followed by Ireland and then the UK. I’m surprised that the USA is only fourth.
The Times describes the origins of Irish wealth at length, but later in the same edition but in a separate story describes how Britain now hires so much help (in terms of childcare, cleaners, gardeners etc.) that now one third of the population employs at least one person to assist with household tasks. One difference between Ireland and Britain is very striking: the Irish are breeding at an economically viable level, whereas the British are not: the very people who are doing these domestic chores will probably need to be relied upon to keep the population growing.
